Daily Study Path

Short and sweet! Kindergarteners do best with tiny wins and lots of encouragement.

Learning Zone

Fun things to know.

These are the building blocks. Every big reader and math star started right here.

Letter Sounds

  • Every letter makes a sound. A says /a/ like apple.
  • Say it out loud. Hearing the sound helps you remember it.
  • Look for letters everywhere — on signs, books, and cereal boxes!

Rhyming Words

  • Rhyming means words that sound the same at the end.
  • Cat, hat, bat — they all rhyme!
  • Clap when you hear a rhyme. It makes your brain notice patterns.

Stories

  • Characters are the people or animals in a story.
  • Stories have a beginning, middle, and end.
  • After reading, ask: "What happened first? What happened next?"

Books and Print

  • We read from left to right and top to bottom.
  • The front cover tells you the title.
  • Words are made of letters with spaces between them.

Counting

  • Count to 20 and back! Practice every day.
  • Touch each object as you count — one touch, one number.
  • Count things at home: toys, steps, crackers!

Shapes

  • Circle: Round like a ball.
  • Square: 4 equal sides.
  • Triangle: 3 sides.
  • Rectangle: Like a door — 2 long sides, 2 short sides.

Comparing

  • More, fewer, same — compare groups of things.
  • Bigger and smaller — which one takes up more space?
  • Taller and shorter — stand two things next to each other!

Adding

  • Adding means putting together.
  • Use your fingers! 3 fingers + 2 fingers = 5 fingers.
  • Draw dots to help you count.
